At my alma mater, THE University of Texas (aka UT Austin):


Four groups of game designers pitched new electronic game concepts…. Audio Adventure, the winner in the most innovative game category, targeted the untapped market of the visually impaired.

    Another good site to get some great accessible video games is http://bscgames.com/. I learned of their offerings in a Boston Globe article entitled “BLIND COMPUTER USERS ARE PLAYING BY EAR” on February 26, 2005.

    Oh cool, thanks for that link! Has anyone tried Chillingham? That looks like it might be fun. Chillingham can be found at bavisoft.com. Also, I heard that All In Play is working on Texas Hold ‘Em.

    Hey, I’ve got an idea: Periodically at the Carroll Center we host events, tech fairs, and the like. It would be fun to host a gaming event. In the morning, people could learn about the games and in the afternoon we could have gaming tournaments! Or something like that…

    Absolutely, that would be a great idea. I know the BSC games have an option to post your scores online to compete worldwide. We could setup a room with relative sound isolation and a computer with a 5.1 channel surround sound audio card. The action games at BSC Games employ spatial audio clues to help target objectives. Fun stuff!
