2 Thumbs Up for iPodder 2.0

Today I have been playing with iPodder 2.0 (using JAWS 6.1). There have been some minor access quirks such as focus occasionally going into Never Never Land. But given that I’m running it without the benefit of any customized JAWS scripts, I must say that things are lookin’ good. You can download iPodder at [iPodder.org](http://www.ipodder.org/ “iPodder.org”).

So what’s your favorite Podcast?

I’m still learning about Podcasting. I wish Podcasts could be streamed rather than only downloaded, but I do understand that the typical mode of operation is to download them to a portable device. I need to try doing this with my PAC Mate! It should work, since the actual files seem to be standard MP3 format. I have a 1 GB USB JumpDrive I connect to my PAC Mate for listening to MP3 music files, so I should be all set in that area.

Once I get my feet wet downloading and listening to more Podcasts, I intend to start my own!

I do wish Adam would add the alt tags to areas on ipodder.org, such as the HowTo section, where they are currently missing. I have sent a note about this need to adam@ipodder.org.

I sent a quick note to Adam Curry requesting that alt tags be added to ipodder.org as appropriate. He responded positively, indicating that he would pay better attention to this need. Just think. By writing that note to Adam Curry, I have helped to raise his awareness about the need for proper, accessible web design! We might have more overall accessibility than we would if nobody bothered to write to him. The low overall level of participation in these efforts by most in the blind community is absolutely shocking! Why must accessibility advocacy always fall to a very small number of people? I think we can all do our parts!

BTW, I like Marlaina’s new Marlaina By Ear Podcast found at http://www.blindcast.com – enjoy.

Thanks for the tip! I checked it out yesterday, subscribed via iPodder, and just added Blindcast to our blogroll.
